Born
in Roman mythology
and inspired by the dramatic figure that towers above Birmingham,
our name has a storied reputation.
Vulcan
Steel Products, Inc. has built its reputation over the past
3 decades on the ability to provide a superior product and exceptional
customer service. Vulcan's goal has always been to help our
customers succeed. Do whatever it takes. Occasionally,
we have even been called upon to assist our customers with some
of their transportation needs. Keeping with the "whatever
it takes" mentality, we rose to the challenges and pulled our
customers out of a pinch.
By
going above the call of duty to help our customers, we saw a need
and the concept of Vulcan Logistics was born. To outsource
our expertise in logistics to assist our customers, vendors and
other manufacturers with their transportation needs. To act
as a hybrid third party logistics company (3PL). By working
closer with our carriers and customers we create a win-win-win situation.
Our customers win because we save them money and time. Our
carriers win because we are helping them reposition their equipment.
Vulcan wins because we gain more control of our supply chain
and increase utilization of our carrier's trucks. If our customers
and carriers win, then we win.
Our
logistics staff has over 100 years of combined transportation experience
handling truckload freight, LTL, partial loads, heavy haul, air
freight, intermodal, blanket wrap, expedited and power only. Whether
it's flatbed, van, refrigerated, over dimensional, 3 lbs. or 300,000
lbs. we've got the experience. Our people are some of the
best in the industry.
In
order for Vulcan Logistics to succeed, we needed the best technology
money could buy. So Vulcan Logistics chose McLeod's Load Master,
the Cadillac of transportation software. This system allows
us to work more efficiently, effectively and helps us pool the resources
of our network of logistics professionals around the country to
save our customers money.

Quick
Facts
Vulcan,
the Roman god of
fire and forge, was a
blacksmith that used a
volcano as his forge. He
made weapons for all the
gods, including the
thunderbolts of Jupiter.
Sitting
atop Red Mountain,
the world's largest cast
iron statue was originally
built in 1894 for the
World's Fair in St. Louis.
It overlooks the city and
has stood as a symbol of
Birmingham for more than
100 years.
The
geological landmass
of Birmingham is special
because it contains an
abundance of the three
raw materials needed for
making iron and steel:
coal, iron ore and
limestone.
